Trident Maritime Systems is a global leader in engineering solutions and services for the maritime industry, operating across highly technical and safety-critical sectors. The goal of the project was to redesign Trident’s website to better reflect the scale, capability, and innovation of the business, while making complex information easier to understand for a broad audience. The client wanted a modern, professional digital presence that clearly communicated their services, worked seamlessly across devices, and supported both commercial and recruitment objectives. The site was built on Squarespace, with tailored front-end enhancements to extend functionality and deliver a more bespoke experience than the platform typically allows.

Requirements & Result

The website needed to clearly articulate Trident’s services and specialist capabilities while maintaining a clean, modern interface and strong usability across desktop, tablet, and mobile. From a build perspective, the platform needed to remain manageable within Squarespace, while allowing for custom interactions, repeatable content structures, responsive layouts, and smooth internal navigation through anchor linking and enhanced scrolling behaviour.

Working collaboratively with the wider team, I contributed to early wireframing and then took ownership of several inner pages, including Responsibility and Environmental Testing, as well as designing reusable section components to ensure consistency across the site. I sourced and implemented suitable video and imagery to support the narrative and elevate the visual experience, and developed custom front-end code using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to support interactive elements and bespoke behaviours beyond native Squarespace functionality. This included custom anchor links, enhanced navigation logic, and the integration of carefully selected third-party plugins to improve user experience without compromising performance.

SEO Contribution

I implemented on-page SEO best practices across the site, including the creation of page-level meta titles and meta descriptions, structured heading hierarchies, and consistent internal linking. Tags and metadata were applied to support search visibility, while ensuring all SEO decisions aligned with user intent. This approach helped ensure the redesigned site was not only visually polished and user-friendly, but also optimised for search from launch.
